Now in its 44th year, the Broad Executive Forum of Detroit welcomes Ginni Rometty, head of global sales and distribution at IBM for the event’s keynote address. Rometty will discuss how a smarter planet—more interconnected, instrumented and intelligent—is driving public and private organizations around the world to transform cities, workplaces, and processes, not only by managing more efficiently, but also by unleashing the genius and creativity of the workforce itself.
“The Internet and digital technologies, along with rapid marketplace shifts, are transforming how we work today, how we share information, build relationships and make decisions,” says the IBM executive.
Rometty reports to the IBM Chairman, and serves on his Global Performance Team and IBM's Integration and Values Team. She is also a member of IBM's Operations team. She is a leader in diversity initiatives, including the Women in Technology Council and the Women's Leadership Council, and is one of the senior sponsors of the Women's Executive Council at IBM. She was named to Fortune magazine's “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009, Forbes magazine’s listing of the “World’s 100 Most Powerful Women” in 2008 and 2009.
Afternoon workshops offer a foundational look at these trends with concurrent sessions on monetizing social networks, and supply chain strategies:
Workshop I -- Relationship Management in a Smarter World
See how your business – large or small-- can use social media to capitalize on connecting, collecting, and perfecting customer relationships in 2010 and beyond. Derek Mehraban, adjunct instructor at MSU and CEO of Ingenex Digital Marketing, and Ryan Schram, region vice president at ePrize, show you how new media tools can be more involving and engaging, and drive more compelling consumer connections for your business.
Workshop II -- Supply Chain Framework for Growth and Performance
Many firms have focused on supply chain management to reduce costs. However, leading firms have begun to see the supply chain as a way to enhance competitiveness, increase revenue, and reduce assets employed. David Closs, PhD, chair of the Broad School’s highly-ranked Supply Chain Management Department, and Michael Klaus, head of Hewlett-Packard’s Technology Consulting Services, will offer a framework describing how effective supply chain management can enhance corporate competitiveness. Closs will introduce the framework and give examples of firms using supply chain to enhance their performance. Klaus will describe in-depth how HP has used supply chain management to enhance their growth and performance.
The program cost of $95 per person includes workshop selection, reception and dinner, and keynote.
