(The Facilitator Training for ACT Against Violence was designed by the American Psychological Association (APA) to train childcare, social service, and mental health professionals to deliver the enhanced parent education curriculum called “Raising Safe Kids”. It is a national, research based violence prevention program designed to educate families and caregivers about ways to protect children and youth from violence by improving parenting skills.
The two-day seminar format of the training program is structured to be very interactive and utilizes self-discovery learning. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in small and large groups, individual work, multimedia presentations and role-playing.
Each participant gets a packet that includes the facilitator manual, parent handbook, fact sheets, handouts, brochures, posters and a public service announcement DVD. (All materials are available in both English and Spanish.) In addition, you will receive a guide for children’s activities that can be used during the 8 week program for parents.
