About Our Cause:
We are preparing for our first annual Angels Against Abuse 5k walk to benefit victims of domestic violence that are serviced by Groundwork. Groundwork is a domestic violence program of Guardian Angel Community Services, a non-profit 501c (3) social service agency. With your help we are hoping to raise awareness of the impact that domestic violence can have on victims throughout the community that we live in.
In 2008 Groundwork provided nearly 11,000 hours of counseling and advocacy to 946 victims of domestic violence. Groundwork operates a 24 hour emergency shelter that provides a safe haven for victims. Last year our shelter provided 7,683 nights of shelter of which 2,534 of those nights were for children that were impacted by domestic violence right here in our community. Additionally, Groundwork operates a 24 hour hotline which helped 3,620 callers last year with crisis intervention, safety planning, information and referrals.
All of our Groundwork services offered to victims are free of charge. In addition to emergency shelter and hotline services we offer legal advocacy as well as individual and group counseling to adults and children. With your help we can continue to provide these much needed services to victims of domestic violence.
