ND TrailblazersOne hundred and seventy-five years ago, a young French priest boldly embarked on an arduous journey from Vincennes to South Bend with an ambitious goal in mind: to found a great Catholic university in the United States. That trailblazing spirit has been passed down from generation to generation in the Notre Dame family, and our alumni, friends, faculty, and students continue to innovate and inspire in ways that would make Father Sorin proud.
This year’s presentation celebrates Notre Dame Trailblazers past and present.
Elizabeth “Dolly” Duffy ’84 is the executive director of the Notre Dame Alumni Association and associate vice president for University Relations. She oversees the daily operations of the Alumni Association including: communications, marketing, finance, technology and the alumni affinity groups, and professional, academic, spiritual, and service programs.
Duffy began her current role in July 2011. Previously she served as the Alumni Association’s associate director since early 2008.
Since joining the Alumni Association, Duffy provided leadership for many of the organization’s major initiatives. She directed the launch of a new online platform and strategy called myNotreDame, designed to help alumni more easily connect with one another and the University. Duffy also led a strategic review of all of the association’s programs and initiatives. In addition, she supported the creation of ND Women Connect, with local chapters that assist in the professional and personal development of alumnae.
Duffy earned a bachelor's degree in history from Notre Dame in 1984. She and her husband, Dan Fangman, who earned his master of business administration degree from Notre Dame in 1984, purchased Atchison Products in 1990 and grew it substantially over 17 years. The company was acquired in 2007 by BIC Graphic USA.
Prior to purchasing Atchison Products, Duffy spent five years working in public relations in St. Louis and Kansas City. She began her career as the press secretary for a U.S. congressman.
Duffy and Fangman live in South Bend with their five children.
