Carrollwood Day School is proud to present The Laramie Project on December 1, 2018 at 7:00 pm. This play, not intended for audiences younger than 12 years old, focuses on the town of Laramie, coming to grips with the horrible, hate-fueled death of Matthew Shepard. The play reveals how deep hatred can go, as well as the compassion that lies within all people in a seemingly average community. CDS is bringing this play to the students, families, and community as a reminder that there is always hope, even in times of darkness.
Carrollwood Day School will be selling commemorative t-shirts at school leading up to the performance and at the door and during intermission at the performance.
In honor of Matthew Shepard’s birthday and World AIDS Day,
CDS is donating 20% of all ticket and t-shirt sales to the Matthew Shepard Foundation.
** Please note: The Laramie Project is a deeply moving play that recreates the response of a grieving community. It is a heavy emotional piece. The play contains mature content and themes and is not recommended for children younger than 12 years old.
The cast for this production is made up of talented students from Carrollwood Day School's upper school division. This production is led by Colleen McEvoy, CDS Director of Performing Arts and upper school performing arts teacher.
