Because the bounty of autumn is upon us and
Organic School Project is now guiding over 120 young Chicagoans each week in
harvesting the organic vegetables, fruits, and herbs they grew in their school
gardens, we are hosting a celebration of
the season with a community meal.
Organic School Project’s Fall Harvest
a community dinner to be held
November 20th, 2009
6-8 p.m.
at Leslie Hall, 1111 North Wells Street
$35 per Adult
Parents of children in OSP
programs may attend for $25
Children 12 and under may attend
free
Dishes featuring harvest time ingredients
like ripe local pumpkins, organic squashes, or the cabbage and Brussels sprouts
just coming into season will be created by chefs John Manion of Goose Island, John Chiakulas of Foodlife, Eric Young of Scoozi! and James Gottwald and Amanda Downing of Rockit
Bar & Grill.
Keynote speaker LaDonna Redmond, founder of Graffiti & Grub, will address the topic of food justice. Other speakers include Representative Kenneth Dunkin of the 5th District and Andalib Khelghati, Assistant Principal of Reavis Math & Science Special School. Our emcee for the evening will be NBC5 meteorologist and personality Ginger Zee.
Children ages 6-12 are invited to help Chefs Lisa Williams and Paul Molina prepare a salad for all to enjoy!

Funds raised at the event will support
Organic School Project’s Grow Teach Feed After School program, which reaches
over 120 urban youth at three Chicago Public Schools in 1st through
8th grade by growing
gardens with them, educating them
about nutrition and the environment, and feeding
them wholesome foods as snacks and ingredients for cooking lessons.
