Fund-the-Gap Becomes Fund-A-Teacher

At Rock the Foundation 2010, MPAEF's traditional Fund-the-Gap fundraising efforts will be focused entirely on Funding-A-Teacher!  Each spring, we ask event guests to raise their bid numbers to help us generate additional funds before we "raise the roof" on the dance floor.  This year, our goal is to raise $100,000, the average cost of a well-trained, experienced, high quality teacher (including benefits). Together, we can save a teaching position in our district for the next school year.

State cuts, flattening property taxes, and increasing enrollment has forced the district to lower per student spending for the first time in a decade.  Next year, the situation is expected to get tougher.  Our superintendent has already outlined a $2 million deficit in the 2010-2011 budget.  With more kids and less money, teacher jobs are at stake right now.

It's up to us.  No one else is going to step in and solve our funding problems -- not the State, not the Federal government, not local corporations.  On April 24th, when it's time to help Fund-A-Teacher, please participate at a level that is meaningful for you.  Thanks to a donation by Shutterfly, each family contributing $250 or more to Fund-A-Teacher will receive a gift certificate for one 20-page 8"x8" Shutterfly photo album as a token of our appreciation.*

Thank you in advance for your support of Fund-A-Teacher.  Our schools, our children, and teachers are counting on us!

*Shutterfly gift certificates will be mailed home to all eligible Fund-A-Teacher donors the week following the event.
