Wednesday, May 15,

2013 Broad Executive Forum of Chicago and
special guest speaker
Mark Hollis, MSU Spartans Athletic Director.

Hollis will share insights into the business and leadership side of Division I collegiate athletics: the challenges he faces and the opportunities he has helped create for student-athletes and Spartan fans. The MSU AD takes the podium at 6:15 pm and will offer time for audience Q&A before closing.

Well-known for his innovative marketing MSU’s current athletic director, Hollis has been the idea man for “The BasketBowl” (MSU vs. U of Kentucky at Ford Field) as well as for the “Cold War” ice hockey game between MSU and U of M at MSU’s football stadium. “The Carrier Classic,” played on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson in 2011, was also his brainchild. His well-rounded background led to his knowledge of all areas within an athletics department, including marketing, financial administration, television negotiations, fund-raising, game operations, facility management, personnel policy, corporate interaction, sports management and public relations.

In addition, Hollis is chair of the Division I Amateurism Cabinet, a member of the NCAA's Men's Basketball Issues Committee, and a member of the Division I Men's Basketball Committee.

An MSU alumnus Hollis earned a bachelor's degree in communication in 1985, while serving as a basketball team manager under Jud Heathcote. In 1992, he earned his MBA in business administration from the University of Colorado. He returned to MSU in 1995 and was appointed athletic director in 2008, succeeding Ron Mason.

In a new collaboration, the coaching staff of MSU Athletics and Broad College of Business faculty are teaming up to offer an interactive two-and-a-half-day program focused on "Building Winning Teams: A Quest for Excellence" in the college's Executive Development Programs (EDP) schedule of open enrollment seminars.

Instructors, and alumni participants of two other EDP programs at Broad  --  "Executive Leadership for Women: Strategies to Enhance Success," and the "Broad Executive Program: Strategies for High Impact Leadership"" -- will present a mini-session and interactive panel discussion for Chicago Forum workshop guests from 4 pm to 5:15 pm. Your takeaway from the mini executive strategy sessions will include strategies for taking
charge of your career.

A cocktail hour with complimentary beer, wine and cocktails along with hearty hors d'oeuvres will be hosted from 5:15 pm to 6:30 pm.

Registration today. Seating is limited.
