It is critical to the well-being of the Jewish community to maintain the ability to effectively advocate throughout the political spectrum without fear of anti-Semitism.  The Jewish community has a right to participate in political discourse without prejudice, bigotry and undue or disproportional criticism of Israel. The Finding Our Voice Conference will bring together speakers and activists in support of this position.  As a real-time, skills-building seminar, it will provide participants with techniques and methodologies for constructively addressing what has become an alarming trend.

The central mission of the Finding Our Voice Conference is three part:

  1. To educate politically active and progressive Jews and allies about the roots, nature, and extent of the new anti-Semitism and its interplay with traditional anti-Semitism;
  2. To mobilize and empower participants to respond to this phenomenon; and
  3. To galvanize a broad-based coalition of organizations and leaders to join together in continuing to recognize, expose, and resist this trend toward anti-Semitism.

Keynote Speaker: Anthony Julius

The keynote address will be given by renowned English writer and lawyer Anthony Julius who has gained world-wide prominence for challenging anti-Semitism.  He successfully defended Professor Deborah Lipstadt against spurious libel charges brought by Holocaust denier David Irving.  In 2005, Mr. Julius was instrumental in overturning England’s Association of University Teachers’ attempt to stage an academic boycott against Haifa University. Anthony defused another such attempt in 2006 against all Israeli universities by England’s National Association of Teachers in Higher Education.  He is increasingly seen in the press and at academic conferences addressing with nuance, calm, and sound logic the occurrence of anti-Semitism today.
