Wish Jump 2016 to launch July 30
In a unique fund-raiser, about 30
participants will jump from a plane, with a goal of raising funds to
support Make-A-Wish Northeast New York. This sixth annual event will be
held again this year at Skydive the Ranch, Gardiner, NY.
The participants, including many first-time jumpers, are raising funds through this website
where online donations can be made. Expected among the jumpers are some wish
teens and parents, as well as volunteer wish granters, chapter staff,
and other supporters.
wish granter Mary Kenney initially launched the idea as a fundraiser
that offered a bit more adrenaline than a bake sale. Since the inception
in 2011, it has drawn over 120 participants who have raised more than
$130,000 in all.
She added that the participants are inspired by the
wish children, who bravely face their challenges as they cope with, and
most often overcome, their life-threatening medical conditions. “We welcome
additional support, so donations can be made by visiting this site, with more information found at www.wishjump.com,” she said.
is an exciting way to help fund
wishes for local kids,” said Make-A-Wish local chapter CEO William Trigg
III. “We appreciate the efforts of everyone who is supporting
this event, and made it such a success." As a Wish Jumper himself, he said, the
support of so many people "really inspires us to take that
leap of faith - right out of the plane!”
