Every summer the B.R. Ryall YMCA of Northwestern DuPage County day camps are home to hundreds of local children and teens, with programs designed to nurture their spirits, challenge their minds and strengthen their bodies. Campers enjoy sports, swimming, crafts and nature, as well as learn the importance of healthy choices and active lifestyles.
At the Y, the summer camp “classroom” is the great outdoors, which offers a unique opportunity to appreciate the joy and benefits of programs that involve a full-day of fresh air and physical activity, disconnected from video games and sedentary habits. While there is plenty of fun in the sun, outdoor activity space with shaded coverage is extremely limited due to the growing number of campers served.
The Y has identified the need for a new 20’ x 44’ pavilion to provide coverage from rain and shade from the sun, as well as seating with 8-10 new wood picnic tables. Intended to serve as the site of our Camp Wilderness for grades 2-3, the proposed pavilion and tables are estimated to cost approximately $30,000.
Recognizing that few childhood experiences are as special as summer camp, the Rotary Club of Glen Ellyn has committed to make this pavilion a reality… with your support. The Club will match every donation to the Summer Camp Pavilion Project dollar-for-dollar up to $15,000. Please give generously with the unique chance to double your gift, and help make it the BEST SUMMER EVER for B.R. Ryall YMCA campers!
