Dr. Steven Clute grew up breakdancing on the streets of Anderson, Indiana. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Ball State University in 1999 and was a few credits short of a minor in Polka Dancing. Then he attended dental school at Indiana University, where he served as Vice President of his dental class and Assistant to the Assistant to the Director of Dental Dance Theory. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2003 and went on to practice in an upscale dentistry office in Anderson, where dancing was strictly prohibited during work hours.
In 2006, Steve pursued an opportunity to provide dental care for underserved youth in Fort Wayne and is the owner of SmileWorks Youth Dentistry. Since moving to Fort Wayne, he has been working primarily with children and is now free to sing and dance throughout his own office! Steve finds great satisfaction in treating kids of all ages and found his true passion. In 2011, Steve received privileges from Parkview Hospital, and he began treating qualified children under general anesthesia in a hospital setting.
Steve is a member of the American Dental Association and its local affiliate, the Isaac Knapp District Dental Society. He also maintains an affiliate membership with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. His memberships with the National Dance Council of America, USA Dance, Inc., and the United Square Dancers of America are pending.
Steve and his wife April have two sons, Evan (age 11) and Alex (age 9). He enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His interests include exercising, snowboarding, games, music, 80’s movies, “Star Wars,” and barbecuing. Steve has enjoyed coaching a local youth football team and is an avid Colts fan and season ticketholder. He has never danced professionally, which will be hard for those in attendance to believe after witnessing his dominance of the dance floor.
