Dr. Ian Nelson






Ian Nelson is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and native of Indiana growing up in Elkhart before going to Butler University in Indianapolis.  There he played football and was a three year starter at quarterback while earning his B.S. in biology and was accepted to medical school. 

He completed his MD at Indiana University School of Medicine and then went on to his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Wisconsin. After residency he did a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Kaiser Permanente in California. 

Now he is a sports medicine specialist with Fort Wayne Orthopedics and team physician with Optimum Performance Sports for PFW, Carroll High School, Central Noble, and multiple others. 

Ian has 3 daughters who are all active in Southwest Allen Schools participating in activities such as dance, volleyball, softball, basketball, and many others. Ian and his wife, Nicole, have been married for 16 years, and she teaches biology and environmental science at the University of St. Francis. 

When he is not coaching his daughters or driving them to their events, Ian has worked with the surgery committee and board of directors at Dupont Hospital and his neighborhood HOA. Ian is excited to support the mission and activities of the Carriage House as a necessary and important organization in our community.
