The Melton School Core Curriculum is a comprehensive, sequential series of text-based lessons comprised of four courses.  Each focuses on one major area of Jewish learning, and forms a thread in the carefully woven fabric which integrates Jewish history, religion, ritual, language, ethics, philosophy, literature, theology and contemporary Jewish life.

Crossroads of Jewish History
Emphasizing the richness of Jewish memory, this chronological exploration focuses on the significant crossroads where Jews made decisions that shaped our identity and destiny.

Ethics of Jewish Living
This course sheds light on how Jewish scholars and thinkers with multiple approaches consider contemporary issues that affect us individually and as a community.

Devarim (Deuteronomy)

The fifth of the five books of Moses, the Book of Deuteronomy, is a book of prose and poetry, laws and ethics.  In Deuteronomy, Moses reflects with hindsight on his journey with the Jewish people through the wilderness, while at the same time he encourages the people to live with foresight as they make their preparations to enter the Promised Land without him.  Significantly, while Deuteronomy contains the words of one man reflecting on the journey of one people, learners will quickly find out that the wisdom found in this final book of the Torah has spoken to many people, through their many different live journeys, throughout the ages.
