Last March, when I first considered riding my bike 200 miles in two days for Ride for AIDS, I never imagined I could do it. And yet, four months and about 1,000 training miles later, I geared up with a few hundred other people and actually accomplished it, largely motivated by the idea that we had worked together to raise $300,000 for members of our community (not to mention the fact that I could eat constantly for about 48 hours and not worry about it).
What I also never imagined I could do was raise more than $1,000 for it. Thanks to really, really awesome people like you, I met my goal, and this year, I would like to step up my game and raise $3,000 for the event, which takes place in July. Please consider supporting again this year -- any amount will help, and the folks at TPAN will make sure it reaches Chicagoans who need it the most. Also of note is the fact that 100% of the pledges you make goes directly to the beneficiaries. Our registration costs and corporate sponsorships cover the cost of the ride itself, which is unusual for such an event.
Your support last year was really what made everything possible, both in terms of fundraising and my own motivation. Thank you so much. I hope you'll consider providing it again in 2011.
